Can I use Notion as my company's knowledge base for AI?
Yes. Notion is a strong team wiki, Notion AI answers from it with your permissions, and its MCP server lets ChatGPT or Claude read it. It stops short where the AI has to be handed the company's current rule before it acts, in whatever AI each person uses, and where corrections made during real work have to reach the right people without someone writing a page.

What Notion is genuinely good at
Most teams already know how to use Notion, and that matters more than any feature list. Pages can be shared with members, groups, and guests at Full access, Can edit, Can comment, or Can view, and teamspaces have their own members. Verified pages carry a blue check, can be verified until a date or indefinitely, and the owner is asked to re-verify when the check lapses. Search shows the check, which helps a reader pick between similar or conflicting pages.
The AI side is real too. Notion Agent has the same permissions you do, and can act in Slack, Gmail (sending needs your confirmation), Calendar, and apps connected through MCP. On Business and Enterprise plans, Enterprise Search reaches into Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Drive, Jira and more, and Notion's AI connectors honor the permissions those tools already have. Notion also hosts an official MCP server that can read, create, and update Notion content, so an AI like ChatGPT or Claude can work with your pages directly.
If your company's knowledge lives in Notion and most of your AI work happens inside Notion, that is a good setup. HexaHQ is not asking you to move your wiki.

A wiki, asked to steer AI that does the work
None of these are bugs. A wiki is built for people to write in and search, and these are the places where AI acting on the company's behalf needs something a little different.
A wiki answers when it is asked
The rule a task depends on reaches the AI when a search turns it up. A rep drafting a renewal quote does not always think to ask whether there is a discount policy, and the AI cannot follow a page it never looked for.
Two pages, both plausible
"Refunds" from last spring and "Refund policy 2026" can both be in the workspace. Verification helps a reader choose, and it stays accurate as long as each owner re-verifies on time. An AI in the middle of a task can pick whichever one its search ranks first.
Instructions are set per agent
Your personal Notion Agent instructions live on a private "My Notion AI" page, and each Custom Agent has its own. That suits personal preferences well. A company rule that should shape everyone's work wants one home that every person's AI starts from, so changing it once changes it for all of them.
Corrections happen in the chat
When someone tells their AI "no, annual plans are 14 days now", the fix is made in that conversation. For it to reach the next person, someone has to remember to find the right page and edit it, and on a busy day nobody does.
Not everyone works inside Notion
One person drafts in ChatGPT, another works in Claude, a third lives in their inbox. Each AI can reach Notion through MCP, and each decides for itself what to read. The company's rules arrive only as reliably as each of those searches.

HexaHQ hands the AI the rule before it acts
HexaHQ keeps one current version of each company rule, and before your AI starts a task it is handed the rules that apply to it. The rep writing the renewal quote does not have to know the discount policy exists. Their AI already has it.
What people teach their AI while they work becomes shared memory for the team. When someone corrects their AI, the correction is saved, that person reviews it, and it reaches everyone it applies to. Nobody stops to write a wiki page, and the same knowledge works in whichever supported AI each person uses, like ChatGPT and Claude.
The same context then carries into the work itself. Your AI can connect to any app with an API by describing it, with no server to build or host, and each person connects with their own login. Your organization decides which actions run on their own, which ask first, and which are blocked.
Sharing a page is not the same as reaching the right AI
Notion's sharing settles who can open a page, and it does that well. The question for AI is a different one: which rules should be in front of this person's AI when it starts this task, without the person having to know the page exists.
In HexaHQ each document has an audience. Some stays personal, like how you want your own emails written. Some reaches one team or group. Some applies to the whole organization. Some is shared with a client, contractor, or advisor outside the company. A person's AI uses only what that person is meant to have, plus their own working context, and nothing else.
So a pricing rule for the EU sales team reaches every EU rep's AI on their next quote, and does not show up in Support's AI at all. One shared context does not mean everyone gets everything.
The refund window that changed
A support team keeps its policies in Notion. In March the refund window for annual plans drops from 30 days to 14. The support lead posts it in Slack and writes a new page, "Refund policy 2026". The old "Refunds" page is still there, still verified until June.
A week later a new hire asks their AI to answer a refund request from a customer on day 20 of an annual plan. The AI searches, finds the older page first, and drafts a reply approving the refund. The new hire has no reason to doubt it.
With HexaHQ, the refund rule is one document shared with the Support team. When the lead corrected her own AI mid-ticket, the correction was saved, she reviewed it, and it replaced the old wording. The new hire's AI is handed the 14-day rule before it drafts anything, declines politely, and offers the credit the policy allows, logged in the billing system through the new hire's own account.
Notion and company knowledge for AI, answered
Can I use Notion as my company's knowledge base for AI?
Yes. Notion is a strong team wiki, Notion Agent works with the same permissions you have, and Notion's hosted MCP server lets an AI like ChatGPT or Claude read and update your pages. It stops short where the AI has to be handed the company's current rule before it acts, in whatever AI each person uses, and where corrections made during real work have to reach the right people without someone writing a page.
Can ChatGPT or Claude read my Notion workspace?
Yes. Notion runs an official remote MCP server that can read, create, and update Notion content, so an AI client that supports MCP can connect to it. What the AI finds depends on what it searches for during the task.
Does Notion AI respect page permissions?
Yes. Notion says Notion Agent has the same permissions you do, and its AI connectors to tools like Slack and Google Drive honor the permissions those tools already have.
How do I keep Notion pages from giving my AI outdated answers?
Notion's verified pages help: an owner marks a page as verified until a date, is asked to re-verify when it lapses, and search shows the check so readers can pick between similar or conflicting pages. That still depends on owners keeping up. HexaHQ keeps one current version of each rule, so a correction replaces the old wording instead of sitting beside it.
Does HexaHQ replace Notion?
No. Keep writing in Notion. HexaHQ holds the settled rules your company wants AI to apply, decides whose AI receives each one, and hands it to the AI before it acts. More on how company knowledge works.
What does HexaHQ add if we already pay for Notion AI?
Three things. The rules that apply to a task reach the AI before it acts, in whichever supported AI each person uses, like ChatGPT and Claude. Corrections people make while working are saved, reviewed by that person, and reach everyone they apply to. And the AI can do the work in any app with an API, through each person's own login.
